FAQ

What is a waterproof rating, and why is it important?

Waterproof Ratings describe how much water the fabric can resist.

To assign a waterproof rating, a one-inch by one-inch square tube is positioned over a swatch of fabric. Water is progressively introduced into the tube until the point of water penetration through the fabric is reached.

The height of the water column within the tube, measured in mm, serves as the basis for determining the fabric's waterproofing efficacy.

Fabrics rated 8,000mm – 10,000mm are perfect for keeping kids dry and cozy while playing outside on rainy wet days, exploring the outdoors, or playing in the snow.

What if it gets colder than -25°c/-13°f where I live?

Wheat’s Technical, Winter + Puffer Outerwear has been rated to -25°c/-13°f.

For days when the temperature is colder, adding a cozy base layer is the best way to stay warm.

We suggest a Merino Wool T-Shirt or leggings to help regulate body temperature, and stay warm while playing outside.

How do I find the perfect size Snowsuit for my child?

Height is the most important measurement when choosing a snowsuit size.

First, measure your child’s height and then compare it to our size charts. Choose the closest size for your child.

Our snowsuits for babies (size 9m-2y) have a generous sizing already. We do not recommend sizing up as it can make it difficult for your little one to move and play

For kids (size 3y+), feel free to select a larger size if they are in between sizes. The suit will be a bit big at the beginning of the season, but they’ll have plenty of room to grow.

TIP - When your child first tries on the snowsuit, have them raise their arms above their head. They should be able to do so easily, without any pulling at the crotch of the suit.

What is the difference between your Winter & Technical Outerwear?

Both our winter & technical outerwear are designed for cold wet winters and hours of fun playing outdoors.

They have similar features, and are both rated to -25°c/-13°f.

The primary differences are breathability and the waterproof rating. Our winter items are made from a breathable PU fabric, and our technical items are made from recycled polyester or nylon that are a bit more waterproof.

Either is a great choice, and can be mixed & matched for the perfect outdoor experience!

My child seems to be right in between sizes. What size would you recommend I choose?

We would recommend opting for the bigger size for your child. Children are constantly growing, and selecting a larger size ensures that they will comfortably fit into it for a longer period.

Additionally, please check the product pages where we will tell you if a garment tends to run big or small.
